Grapes and farmhouse near Amboise Amboise, France, 9/28/1998

I took this photo during a bicycle ride through the Loire valley in France. It was September, just before grape harvest season. All along the way we were picking almost-ripe wine grapes as snacks. I think this is a quintessential Loire valley vineyard photo: row after row of grape vines obscuring all but the roof of an old farmhouse. You can almost feel the damp in the air. The diffuse light from the overcast day gives this photo a fuzzy dreamlike quality. The lack of telephone lines, TV antennas, roads or cars makes the image somewhat timeless. Kinda makes me want to go back for another look.
