Prasat Phnom Rung is one of the most restored Khmer temple ruins near Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. When I entered the central courtyard and saw the principal tower I was stunned. It is a remarkable structure. To get this shot I had to climb part way up a wall in the extreme back corner of the courtyard. There was no way to get farther away, and my lens would not zoom out below 35mm. Also, there were a lot of people around, so I had to wait quite a while to get a shot free of tourists. I think it came out well.
The restoration of the mandapa is excellent. The reddish stones have a very warm quality. In the photo you can see the feet and legs of temple guardian statues that would have “protected” the doors. It’s a shame that these are missing.
