Carp Butterfly Garden, Phuket, Thailand, 12/3/1999

This was the first time I had seen truly big carp in large numbers. Its quite clever the way the Butterfly Gardens in Phuket gets customers to buy fish food to feed their fish. They get their cake and eat it too. Nice trick.
I’ve since seen even more spectacular carp displays in other places, most notably in Tai Pei outside the Palace Museum. Nonetheless, I still like the energy, movement and color in this photo.
