Tip #11: Cut up your travel guides!

I don't mean chop them up and throw them away, I mean slice out the sections you need. Sacrilege you say? Hey, you don't want to be carrying around that 5 pound Lonely Planet guide when all you need are the 20 pages for the city you are in, do you? Besides, it's a little bit easier to be discrete about being a tourist when you have a few torn out pages than when you are carry that conspicuous gold Fodor's book. I have a great deal of respect for Rick Steves, who explicitly instructs you to cut up his "Mona Winks" book. And after all, that's why you're carrying around that Swiss Army knife, isn't it?
