Tip #2: Join all the affiliation clubs (air, hotel, car)

The airlines, hotels, and auto rental companies are all anxious to give you something for nothing. Why not accept it? The only thing you give up is a tiny amount of privacy. You tell them your name and address, and they give you free stuff like flights, hotel rooms and cars. They also might treat you better than customers who are not members. Honestly, I don't go out of my way to get all the points I can, that is just too much bother. But when frequent flyer points are available for doing the things I do anyway, why not?
