Tip #3: Ask for what you want

Is the AARP rate at your hotel lower than the rate you got, but you're not a member? So what? Ask if you can have it. They put you in a room facing the sanitation system? Ask for that ocean view room. They might not give it to you, but it costs nothing to ask, and they do give these benefits out, particularly if you are checking in late in the day. After all, if it's 9pm and there's a better room sitting empty, it costs them nothing to give it to you and win your good will. This is especially true if you are a member of their affiliation club (see tip #2.) The same goes for car rental and air travel. Just ask. Why not?
